Missions, policies, and goals of the digital library of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences

Introduction

The digital library of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences has been established to provide digital resources in line with the research and educational goals of the university. The library is created based on the laws of the vice-chancellor for research and technology of the ministry of health and regulations of the vice-chancellor for research and technology of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences in order to meet the needs of faculty members, students and researchers, for which digital resources have been gathered and made available.

1. Mission

Laying the foundation and increasing the capacity to accelerate research, technology and educational activities of the university through meeting the scientific, research and information needs of professors, students and researchers of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences.

2. Policy

Continuous move toward the provision, availability, and promotion of the application of digital resources is carried out in line with the educational and research and technology goals of the University for all-round cooperation in publication, sharing and protecting the scientific products of researchers in the Web. To comply with this policy, the following strategic priorities are considered by the library:

1. Creating access to information resources for university professors, researchers and students;

2. Supporting and creating a suitable platform for the community of researchers and technologists to promote research and achieve health goals;

3. Laying the foundation for continuous learning in line with the promotion of level of research and education

3. Goals

In pursuit of library excellence and achievement of the missions and policies of digital library of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, the following goals are defined for the center:

1. Providing a comprehensive set of digital resources and creating updated solutions consistent with electronic advances in the Web

·         Providing digital resources in line with the macro policies of Physical Resources and Development Management

·         Promoting health goals

·         Observing ethical principles and maintaining the intellectual property of publishers in accordance with the principles of publication ethics

·         Identifying, introducing, and making open source resources available to library users

·         Constantly updating the methods of access to digital resources at the level of colleges, hospitals, and research centers

·         Physically expanding the library to improve access to digital resources by all library users

·         Making digital resources available to non-academic users in the physical space of the library to enhance health goals

2. Culture building and constantly teaching the use of digital resources in university

Introducing and teaching the method of use of information databases

Updating the information of librarians and employing expert librarians to teach users

Informing and advertising to expand the level of use of these resources

3. Continuously interacting with and monitoring other related areas for facilitation and provision of updated technologies for library users

*Equipping the infrastructures of digital library

*Providing facilities to have access to the digital library from the outside of the network by library users

4. Finding new financial resources and changing the path of resources available toward the strategic priorities of the library

* Attracting external budgets through collaboration with units outside the organization

* Establishing new services and products

5. Increasing access to open-access resources

·         Supporting the new publication models and open access to resources

·         Introducing open-access resources to library users

·         Teaching the method of using open-access resources for more application of information
